Vegetarian Burger Sliders

The Fourth of July is a time for celebration, fireworks, and mouth-watering BBQs. But what if you’re a vegetarian? While traditional burgers are a staple at many gatherings, more people are seeking delicious vegetarian alternatives that don’t compromise on flavor.

Whether you’re a vegetarian, hosting vegetarian guests, or simply looking to try something new, this vegetarian burger sliders recipe is sure to deliver flavor. Here’s everything you need to make your Fourth of July BBQ veggie-friendly.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 6 plant-based burger patties
  • 2 packs of Hawaiian rolls
  • Vegan mayo
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Diced onions
  • Hamburger pickles
  • Cheese of your choice (use vegan cheese to make 100% vegan)

Getting Started

First, we are going to grill the burger patties to give them that real BBQ taste. Follow the package cooking instructions to make sure each patty is fully cooked. Once you’re done grilling, chop the patties into small pieces.

The Buns

Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil; you may need two baking sheets if both sheets of rolls won’t fit on one. If you are using King’s Hawaiian rolls, note that they don’t come pre-cut. Using a bread knife, set the rolls on a counter with your hand on top and carefully cut the rolls horizontally, ensuring the top and bottom halves remain even. If you’re not a fan of sweet rolls, you can use any other small rolls for this recipe.

Some Assembly Required

Spread mayo on the bottom half of your rolls. Take the chopped-up burgers and use about 3 patties for each sheet of rolls, sprinkling them evenly over the bottom half. Then, sprinkle the diced onions across the top. Next, squirt ketchup and mustard across the top, then place one or two pickle chips on each square. Top with your choice of cheese.

Broil

Place the sliders in the oven on broil just long enough to melt the cheese. Be careful not to leave the sliders in too long, as you could burn the buns.

Ready to Eat

When the cheese melts, you’re ready to eat. Take the sliders out of the oven and place the tops of the rolls on the sliders. Cut along the outlined squares. (Disclaimer: That is not vegan cheese, I have yet to find a vegan cheese that melts. For a 100% vegan meal try using a vegan cheese sauce or just opt out of the cheese.)

Sides

These sliders pair well with all your favorite BBQ sides. Vegan macaroni salad, vegan potato salad, watermelon, and vegetarian baked beans are just a few options.

This Fourth of July, elevate your BBQ with these flavorful vegetarian burger sliders. They’re sure to be a hit with everyone, providing a delicious and wholesome alternative to traditional burgers. Enjoy the festivities, savor the flavors, and have a fantastic celebration!
